Warning: Pre-Alpha
This game is currently in pre-alpha, and at this time, I do not recommend running a game in it yet. Every single game mechanic and piece of lore is subject to potentially breaking changes.

Cover
If you make a ranged or thrown attack, but the target is partially behind an object, the target has cover.
Cover has its own damage threshold. When a target under cover is attacked, the cover takes the damage first, until its damage threshold is met, and then any remaining damage is dealt to the target.
At the Plot Twister's discretion, the object providing cover might be destroyed when its damage threshold is met.
Using creatures as cover
Creatures do not provide cover to targets behind them. However, the interpose action can be used to take attacks aimed at something else.
However, this action has an attribute threshold, so creatures with a low vigor have a chance to fail when use it.
Cover Level. The Plot Twister chooses the cover's damage threshold based on the cover's size, material, the degree to which it obscures the target, etc. The table below can act as a general guideline for the Plot Twister to determine a cover's damage threshold:
Cover property | Damage Threshold |
---|---|
Base value | 2 |
Particularly sturdy material | +4 |
Covers most of the target | +4 |
