Warning: Pre-Alpha

This game is currently in pre-alpha, and at this time, I do not recommend running a game in it yet. Every single game mechanic and piece of lore is subject to potentially breaking changes.

Abilities

Your character has two kinds of Abilities: Skills, typically used outside of combat, and Perks, typically used during combat. Together, they define your character's specialties, and how you contribute to the story and to your team.

Gaining Levels. The Plot Twister decides which level your adventure starts at (typically 1), at which level it ends (typically 5 to 10). To gain a level, you must use a Nano Chip. Nano Chips do not appear in any creature's loot table - it is up to the Plot Twister to decide when the players find one - typically after each big milestone in the story.

Perk & Skill Points. When you create a level 1 character, you have 3 Perk Points and 3 Skill Points. You then gain an extra 1 of each every time you gain a level. Each Skill costs 1 Skill Point, and each Perk costs 1 Perk Point, but some skills or perks can gain extra effects if you spend more points on them.

Trees & tiers. Abilities are categorized into various Trees such as "trader", "juggernaut", etc..., and within a given tree, they are sorted by tier. To acquire an Ability of a tier higher than 1, you must:

  1. Own at least one ability from the previous tier of the same tree
  2. Be of a high enough level overall, as described in this table:

Re-specs. Whenever you finish a complete rest, you can forfeit up to 2 Abilities, and regain the points associated with them. You can then spend those points to unlock new Abilities instead. If you would like to re-work your character more fundamentally, talk with your Plot Twister.
