This game is currently in pre-alpha, and at this time, I do not recommend running a game in it yet. Every single game mechanic and piece of lore is subject to potentially breaking changes.

A.E.G.I.S.
A.E.G.I.S., or "The Association for Earth & the Generation of an Interference Shield", is focused one one, singular, but ultimately important goal: reboot the Earth's magnetic shield.
Normally, the flipping of the poles is a phenomenon which should take at least 5000 years. A.E.G.I.S. has fomented a plan to hasten this process, and they hope to restore the Earth before the end of the 22nd century.
The Mission. To accomplish their ambitious goals, A.E.G.I.S. needs to gather metal in inconceivably large quantities. They'll need to gather all of the metal in the wasteland, and then some. In their eyes, anyone who selfishly hoards metal, and in doing so slows down the Mission, is an enemy of the greater good who needs to be dealt with.
Many camps of survivors pay A.E.G.I.S. a "Rust Tax": they send scavengers gather scrap metal in places A.E.G.I.S. would not dare set foot, and periodically hand over a large mass of metal to the association. Usually, the survivors simply hand over rusty pieces of scrap which they had no use for, and A.E.G.I.S. exchanges it for medicine, prisms, food, or anything else the scavengers might need.
Members. The members of A.E.G.I.S. are easily recognized: since all of the metal they retrieve is used for the Mission, A.E.G.I.S. members do not wear any metal themselves. Even their armed forces wear armors made of ceramics, and use weapons made of plastics.
Two charismatic leaders.
[WIP]
How:
- By directing asteroids at earth
- Digging really deep holes
- Scavenging a bunch of ruins for their iron
https://www.wikihow.com/Magnetize-Metal
Aesthetic:
- Militaristic?
- No metal on them whatsoever - all of the metals they acquire goes to THE PROJECT
- They use ceramics, glass and plastics for their their weapons & tech (their stuff breaks more easily, so they're less of a target to other groups)
Assets:
- The Quarry: where they get
- Factory: to make their unique ceramic weapons
- Fusion reactor on the coast
- Underwater base: hardlight dome at the bottom of the ocean, near THE HOLE
Relationships:
- Will absolutely send strike teams to steal your iron
- But may also accept if you pay an "iron tax"
- Will trade non-metal things they find for more iron
Adventure seeds:
- They want to go to space to salvage a space station and/or get some asteroids (and they need your help to get there)
- Defend your fusion reactor from being taken over by them
History:
- Founded by a disgruntled scientist who'd been warning people about the dangers of a superflare but nobody listened.
- Backed by a billionnaire with less scrupules, they managed to put an organization together
- Now the scientist is kind of isolated from the reality of the terrain, and the billionnaire is the one actually running things, just using the scientist as a hero figure to recruit people through cult of personality tactics
NPC ideas:
- Contrarian inner faction: they don't want to succeed if it costs a war
Secret:
- The billionnaire patron is actually self-serving and doign this for themselves (they have resources on Mars or something)
