Warning: Pre-Alpha

This game is currently in pre-alpha, and at this time, I do not recommend running a game in it yet. Every single game mechanic and piece of lore is subject to potentially breaking changes.

Flare Fall - Plot Twister's Guide

What is the Plot Twister's Role?

Creating fun situations. That's it. That's your role.

As the Plot Twister, you will be wearing many hats: adventure writer, level designer, world-builder, cartographer, referee, etc.

These are all practices that people can dedicate their entire lives to mastering, so it can be pretty easy to get lost in the sauce and lose track of what's important.

Or, you could likely feel so intimidated by the magnitude of the task that you trap yourself into never starting that campaign that you wanted to run.

But remember: you don't need to be a master. As long as you and your players are having fun thanks to the situations you created, you're a good Plot Twister. You're doing everything that's expected of you, and then some.

Most people get there on their first session as Plot Twister: if have 3-5 friends and a pizza, odds are you'll all be spending a fun night, regardless of how much experience you have at running games!

There will always be more techniques for you to learn... if learning about those techniques is fun for you. But it's all optional.

So if there's one takeaway you want to have from this book, one North Star that will tell you whether or not headed in the right direction, this is it: your role is to create situations where fun can be had.

The rest of this book will give you tools to help you with that.
