This game is currently in pre-alpha, and at this time, I do not recommend running a game in it yet. Every single game mechanic and piece of lore is subject to potentially breaking changes.

Personal Rapid Transit/Holo-Trains

In the 22nd century, thanks to the abundance of fusion energy, many countries started to get rid of regular subway rams and trains, sometimes even cars and roads, to instead create Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) networks, often called "holo-trains" by their users.

This new form of public transportation uses millions of individual wagons, or "pods", so travelers could get from any address within the network, to any other address within the network, without having to use stations.

Ultra-high speeds. The pods used fusion-powered MagLev technology to glide across the suspended tracks, at speeds of hundreds of kilometers per hour. People could commute from their home in the suburbs, to their office in the city center, 50 miles away, in just 10 minutes. Going from one major city to the next, often wouldn't take more than an hour.

Unmanned vehicles. To ensure the individual pods wouldn't crash, or need to slow down and cause traffic jams, a central super-AI orchestrated and piloted the individual pods. Over time, it would learn from the users' habits, and ensure a pod was always ready to go whenever you needed to go somewhere.

Off-track. Some pods were equipped with hardlight generators, and would create their own tracks so they could ride smoothly on any terrain. This is much slower than using tracks, as hardlight isn't magnetic and can't support maglev, but allowed the users much more freedom in where they could go.

After the Flare. Most orchestrator super-AIs have either gone offline, or suffered severe glitches. In the early days of the Fall, it wasn't rare to see a building suddenly explode, as a PRT pod was launched at the speed of sound into its facade.

Many survivors have appropriated PRT pods, overridden the AI controls so they could pilot the pod themselves, and are using these pods as mobile bases so they can traverse the harsh terrain of the wasteland.

Caravaneers, explorers and raiders alike often form entire trains by attaching several pods together to reduce drag and allow passengers to move between wagons easily. But when a battle breaks out, the individual pods scatter into a battle formation.

1You were hired to guard a merchant caravan on a trip that is known for having a lot of raiders.
2You found a holo-train that you could repair. It's going to be a great base once you put it back together!
3You found out about the route that an enemy convoy was supposed to take. You're going to have to set up an ambush.
4Your holo-train's hardlight generator isn't powerful enough to cross the gorge. You're going to find a lot of deuterium.
